Singer Stella Monye Sick And Battling With Emphysema

Singer Stella Monye has been notorious for her love for smoking, before she came down with lungs and emphysema health challenges years back. She was one of those singers that started with the late Christy Essien, King Sunny Ade, Onyeka Onwenu and others in the 80’s before fading away as the new generation of artistes like Timaya, Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage took over the scene.

According to a source “the singer have been secretly battling with the problem administering self-medications until she could not handle it herself any more. Even till moment, we are told she has warned by family and friends to keep her current state of health as a secret. Stella Monye is known to be a chain smoker. “

It is reported that she has been a chain smoke for a larger part of her life and it was in 2008, that she was diagnosed with Emphsema which is caused by a lot of mucus that accumulates in the lungs and may end up causing lung cancer if not treated

The source added “ she is trying to raise money from friends and family for the surgery and drugs. Stella who still stay in a rented apartment around U-turn, Abule Egba, Lagos might also be selling off a property she acquired three years ago in Lagos to raise fund.”
