According to reports by
Premium Times, Sudan denies Nigerians entry into their country due to the fear
of Ebola. Even though Nigeria hasn't received any patient in the last few
months. The reason was they are scared that any Nigerian coming into
their country might carry the symptom of Ebola even though it would take up to 21
days before one can tell if they have Ebola. One of those Nigerians who was denied entry goes by the name of Hauwa’u
Ibrahim Bakori, a second year student of Pharmacy at Al Ahfad University for
Women, Omdurman, confirmed that she and 25 others were denied entry after
arriving Khartoum Airport on Wednesday.
She said that she was
presently schooling in Sudan and currently is in her second year at the Sudanese
University, but this wasn't enough for them. They had to deport her and others on Thursday.
Another Nigerian, Ms. Bakori said they were sent back to Nigeria via the same Ethiopian Airline on Thursday even while they were not tested for Ebola.
“The lines on the tabular situation reports, sent to WHO each day by its country office in Nigeria, have now been full of zeros for 42 days. This is a spectacular success story that shows that Ebola can be contained. The story of how Nigeria ended what many believed to be potentially the most explosive Ebola outbreak imaginable is worth telling in detail,”WHO said in a statement on October 20.
